We are located in the mountains of the extreme southwestern part of Virginia. My husband and I have both lived in Virginia most of our lives and this farm belonged to my father and to my grandfather before him. As a 4th. grader I got my first horse who lived to be 32 and was buried on the farm on Christmas Day 1994, Her name was BEAUTY.
This is me on Beauty after a horse show 40 years ago. I put more miles on her than most people put on a car. She carried me on many trail rides and helped me to bring in many cows for which I was paid a quarter but we would have done it for free. It was our adventure every time out. My imagination ran wild and I could be whatever I wanted to be with her help and she knew all my secrets. Every child should have a friend and companion like this. I'll always believe she defined my life and future by being with me for so many years. I often close my eyes and picture her in my mind running young and free and kicking up her heals in Heaven. SHE WILL FOREVER BE MY BEST FRIEND AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN OR MOURNED ANY LESS THAN THE DAY I FELT HER LAST BREATH.
Below is my son as a baby on Beauty.
Below is a picture of my great niece Winter on Beauty when she was 32 years old. Beauty was 2 when I got her and has taught many many children how to ride. She taught 3 generations of our family to ride and love horses.
